    Now in its seventh year, Capital City Black Film Festival celebrates African American filmmakers from across the nation and provides a stage for burgeoning talent. This intimate festival celebrates the beautiful storytelling and unique, and yet still universal, the perspective of talented African Americans filmmakers. This festival packs in the fun with four days of events, seminars, parties, screenings, and more! CCBFF includes year-round events and opportunities to experience the brilliant works of black artists and filmmakers from across the globe. This year special guests will include Viola Davis and Julius Tennon!

Sonic Transmissions Festival was born out of a passion for bringing audiences and musicians from different communities together to collaborate, experience, and explore the possibilities of what a music festival can express to audiences today! The September 13th lineup will include Claire Rousay, William Hooker Trio with Ava Mendoza & Damon Smith and Joe McPhee!

    The Zilker Relays is a 10-mile race with teams comprised of 4 runners. Each participant runs a 2.5-mile loop from one central festival/transition area. The team concept of the Zilker Relays is a combination of a relay, festival home base, drinks, and music, make this experience a favorite for runners of all calibers and ages! You don’t have to train like a marathoner for this one. All you have to do is be willing to run, jog, walk or stroll 2.5 miles, enjoy live music and great food and get 3 of your siblings, kids, buddies or colleagues to come and join you for this one of a kind running experience!

    The annual Music In The Park outdoor concert series showcases a variety of live bands and one movie night on selected Friday nights from June to September. Make sure to bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets, friends and neighbors for a free evening of music, entertainment and relaxation. Your dogs are allowed to come as well, and there is no admission charge! Drinks are allowed in the park, not no in any glass bottles or cups. On September 6th, Caboose will be performing!

    Join the city of Pflugerville for their second annual Pfurry Splash Party at Scott Mentzer Pool! Dogs can relax in the pool and interact with other dog friends. The price of admission is $5 per dog (which includes two of its owners), and an extra $3 if anyone else would like to come without a dog. All dogs must be current on vaccinations and have proof, so make sure to check if they are before bringing them to the party. Also, please be sure your dog has been exposed to swimming before bringing them (life jackets are recommended for dogs that are not strong swimmers).

    Waterloo is an independent festival that celebrates the roots of Austin music culture and will feature three full days of nationally renowned jam bands performing alongside the city’s finest musical acts during a weekend of camping! The event will be held at Carson Creek Ranch, a venue just ten minutes from downtown Austin with over 60 acres of Pecan-tree-lined campgrounds and scenic views overlooking the Colorado River. The festival is produced by Austin event promoters Unknown Entertainment, Havin’ a Ball Productions and Heard Presents. This year’s lineup includes the String Cheese Incident, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Oteil & Friends and more!

This year, the featured entertainer is Robert Earl Keen, and the winners for the 2019 Harvey Penick Award are Jan and Bobby Jenkins!

    The CASA programs of the Greater Austin Area have united to gather all superheroes for children for the 2019 CASA Superhero Run! CASA speaks up for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering their community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. When the state steps in to protect a child’s safety because the people responsible for protecting them have not, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations and help the judge decide what’s best for the child. So come out with family and friends by registering for the race, donating to kids, fundraising for the cause! Make sure to come with your best costume on!
