From the Blue Hole Polar Bear Plunge and Fun Run to the 3m Half Marathon, January has a lot of exciting events to attend! Check out these fun events happening this month!

  • Ice Skating on the PlazaNovember 23- January 21
    Whole Foods Market 525 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78703 A must-do for locals and visitors alike, Ice Skating on the Plaza at Whole Foods Flagship store on Lamar has become one of Austin’s most anticipated events of the holiday season! The ice rink is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm, beginning November 23rd through January 21st. The cost is $10 per person and includes skate rental. Every Friday throughout the ice rink season, the skating soundtrack is curated by KUTX for the KUTX Music Fridays series, so don’t miss out!

 

 

  • Pfreeze PflopJanuary 1
    Scott Mentzer Pool 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd, Pflugerville, TX 78660 Are you brave enough to slide into the frigid water at Scott Mentzer Pool to kick off your new year? The event lasts until the last brave soul goes down the slide. Participants must be in line by 10 a.m., as the event goes quickly. Make sure you don’t arrive late; and be left out of the cold. No, the pool isn’t heated! The first 50 people to arrive and jump in the pool will receive a free t-shirt. Admission is free with a donation of a canned food item given to benefit local food banks!

    City of Kyle Pool 1100 W Center St, Kyle, TX 78640 Take part in the Kyle tradition and make a SPLASH into the freezing cold water on January 1 at the Kyle Pool! 2020 will be the 16th Annual Splash! There is no admission charge to take part in the Annual Polar Bear Splash. But if you join the Polar Bear Club, you have proof you can use to brag to your friends.

 

  • Blue Hole Polar Bear Plunge and Fun RunJanuary 1
    Blue Hole Regional Park 100 Blue Hole Ln, Wimberley, TX 78676 Celebrate the New Year on January 1st with Blue Hole Regional Park’s third annual Polar Bear Plunge & Fun Run! The event will start off with a 5K Fun Run at 10 am, and a 1K Fun Run will begin at 11 am. Tickets are $20 per person, and it includes admission to the 5K or 1K Fun Run, a special edition Blue Hole Polar Bear Plunge T-shirt, and a swag bag! If you are just plunging, you do not need a ticket. If you would not like to participate in the Fun Run, they will have a scheduled jump into Cypress Creek at 1:30 pm, or you can come and plunge anytime during the event! They will have a fire at their fire pit, and they will be giving out hot drinks. Please see the full schedule below for more information. Make sure to bring a change of clothes and a towel.
