The event lasts until the last brave soul goes down the slide. Participants must be in line by 10 a.m., as the event goes quickly. Make sure you don’t arrive late; and be left out of the cold. No, the pool isn’t heated! The first 50 people to arrive and jump in the pool will receive a free t-shirt. Admission is free with a donation of a canned food item given to benefit local food banks!
- Polar Bear Splash – January 1
City of Kyle Pool 1100 W Center St, Kyle, TX 78640 Take part in the Kyle tradition and make a SPLASH into the freezing cold water on January 1 at the Kyle Pool! 2019 will be the 15th Annual Splash! There is no admission charge to take part in the Annual Polar Bear Splash. But if you join the Polar Bear Club, you have proof you can use to brag to your friends.
- Blue Hole Polar Bear Plunge – January 1
Blue Hole Regional Park 100 Blue Hole Ln, Wimberly, TX 78676 Celebrate the New Year on January 1st with Blue Hole Regional Park’s second annual Polar Bear Plunge! The event will start with a Fun Run on Blue Hole’s trails that ends with a jump into the famous Blue Hole! If you would not like to participate in the Fun Run, we will have a scheduled jump into Cypress Creek, or you can come and plunge anytime during the event! The event will end at their fire pit. Make sure to RSVP before attending and bring a change of clothes and a towel. The best part is that admission is free!

There will be hundreds of bands performing live throughout the week, such as Ringo Deathstarr, Narrow Head, Moving Panoramas, Otis the Destroyer, Leather Girls, and more! It’s guaranteed that there will be no shortage of entertaining music to listen to at the beginning of the New Year!
- Ice Skating on the Plaza – January 1- January 21
Whole Foods Lamar 525 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78703 A must-do for locals and visitors alike, Ice Skating on the Plaza at the Whole Foods Flagship store on Lamar has become one of Austin’s most anticipated events of the holiday season! The ice rink is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm beginning November 24th through January 15th. The cost is $10 per person and includes skate rental. Every Friday throughout the ice rink season, the skating soundtrack is curated by KUTX for the KUTX Music Fridays series, so don’t miss out!
- Elgin Polar Bear Plunge – January 2
Morris Park and Pool 802 S Ave C, Elgin, TX 78621 Are you brave enough to jump into the cold water in the Morris Memorial pool? If you want to jump into the New Year, then come out and warm up with complimentary hot chocolate or coffee after you jump in! This is a free event, but to ensure that the City of Elgin has plenty of supplies, please be sure to register if you plan on attending. Please keep in mind that a parent or guardian must be present at all times for children to participate!
- Texas Stars v Manitoba Moose – January 4
H-E-B Center at Cedar Park 2100 Ave of the Stars, Cedar Park, TX 78613 The American Hockey League’s Texas Stars are the primary affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, playing all 38 of their home games at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. During their existence in the AHL, the Texas Stars have captured the 2014 Calder Cup, appeared in the 2010 Calder Cup Finals as Western Conference Champions, and have regularly moved players on to full-time careers in the National Hockey League. The Stars have been one of the AHL’s most competitive franchises with six postseason appearances over their eight-year tenure in the league. Watch the Texas Stars play against the Manitoba Moose!

Their month-long event celebrates the art of original printmaking and educating the public about the traditions of printmaking, as well as showcasing the innovations of the contemporary approach. So, come out and support local artists!
- FronteraFest – January 17
Multiple locations, Austin, TX It’s time to heat up your winter nights again, with the 26th season of FronteraFest at Hyde Park Theatre! The Short Fringe, the Long Fringe, BYOV, or Mi Casa (as always and ever), FronteraFest is five weeks of alternative, offbeat, new, and just plain off-the-wall fringe theatre. Every night they present a new, unjuried bill of four or five plays no longer than 25 minutes each. Taking place at venues across Austin, this celebration is a great way to see the city while supporting the arts. Too bad there’s no actual way to expect the unexpected because that is your only hope!

Featuring 26 teams, all singly affiliated with an NBA franchise, the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. An all-time high 38 percent of all NBA players at the start of the 2018-19 season had NBA G League experience. What better way to experience it than watch a game live! Wingate by Wyndham Round Rock Hotel & Conference Center 1209 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Round Rock, TX 78664 The Migrations World Dance and Music Festival is inspired by the way dance was passed through families, communities, from culture to culture, sharing and morphing from initial forms into the myriad of fusions, styles, and beautiful shapes it takes now. The festival is a three-day workshop that celebrates and focuses on dances from around the world such as belly dance, flamenco, drum, zills, Bollywood, Chinese classical dance, ATS, classical Indian dance, and more! Not only will there be dancing, but there will be two nights of shows with live music!

The four The Comedy Get Down comedians also recently wrapped a BET scripted comedy series based on their tour.
