First Home Build with the Rodriguez Family: A True Success Story

One year ago, the Realty Austin team had the distinct pleasure of meeting Rolando and Teresa Rodriguez and their daughters, Cinthya and Melany. In a partnership with Austin Habitat for Humanity, our team of bighearted agents and staff donated $65,000 to sponsor the 1st Annual Realty Austin Home Build at 2508 Devonshire in Austin, Texas.

After many months of hard work, the Rodriguez family moved into their new home in November 2012. The blood, sweat, and happy tears shared by our team and the family during the experience were unforgettable. Realty Austin was inspired by the hard work and determination of the Rodriguez family.

Yvette Boatwright said, “To hear the joy in their voices today, warms my heart to know we are changing lives. Rolando and Teresa say their lives are forever changed and they thank the generosity of the Realty Austin team. Each day they are grateful for having a home in a peaceful neighborhood, where their daughters can run and play. They are thankful for the families next door who they now call friends. They say, ‘life is good’!”

Knowing how the experience has changed the life of The Rodriguez family, Realty Austin dedicated itself to the mission of Austin Habitat for Humanity. Realty Austin’s passion to help others achieve their dreams of homeownership is stronger than ever.

Jonathan Boatwright said, “Sponsoring Habitat is a natural way for our industry to give back to the community in a meaningful way. In December of last year, we asked our agents to pledge a small amount of their commission checks. By May, we had quickly raised $65,000 to sponsor the build together.”

Realty Austin’s industry friends at AmeriPro Funding, Austin Title, Colonial National Mortgage, Gracy Title, Independence Title, JP Morgan Private Bank, Leahy & Associates, Meridian Homes, and North American Title, also raised a hammer while working alongside the team of volunteers.

“Early on we were concerned that we would have a difficult time staffing the full 8 build days and finding breakfast and lunch sponsors, but we wrong. When we setup the VolunteerSpot calendar, all 160 spots filled up within a couple of days.”

Today the company is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Realty Austin Habitat Home Build. The team is raising $65,000 to build another new home for a deserving family in the Austin community. Realty Austin agents are donating $22,000, and the company is matching the $22,000.

We are asking our industry friends to help raise the remaining $21,000 by August 21, 2013. Each dollar donated by the industry friends is matched $2 from the Realty Austin team.
