Read time: 4 minutes

Austin, TX – Are you looking for the most up-to-date and easy-to-use home search website in Austin? You’re in the right place! Explore, Austin’s #1 home search website.

To start searching for your dream home, head over to the “Buy” menu at the top of the page.

Here you’ll see a gallery of listings on the left and their mapped location on the right. If you’re familiar with the Austin area, you can get started by using the search bar at the top to look for your preferred city, neighborhood, school district, school, or zip code. After selecting your location, the map will zoom and a list of matching properties will appear. Want to add more locations? Simply head back to the search bar and include another location. Pretty easy right?

Still not seeing exactly the location you want? Try using the “Draw Area” tool to find homes in any area you can add as many custom areas as your heart desires.

Use the filter options to define your budget, number of bedrooms, and even bathrooms. Take it a step further and check out the “More Filters option. Here, you can fine-tune your search by filtering listings by their status, last price reduction, or even how long they’ve been on the market. You can even use these additional fields to define the type of home you’re looking for, down to the exact square footage, or whether it comes with that pool you’ve been wanting for so long. Extensive property and community features will help you locate your diamond in the rough. You’ll find that dream home before you know it!

Now that you’ve defined what your dream home should look like, there are several ways you can browse and compare listings. Visual users can simply scroll through photos for each listing from the results page, while more data-driven users can use the “Table” option to see results in a spreadsheet-like table. To expand your data table even further, simply toggle the map feature to OFF”. Here you’ll be able to sort properties by price, square footage, list date, and more.

For the full property detail experience, simply click on a specific listing from your results page.  Here, you’ll have access to view all listing photos from our interactive photo gallery, watch the virtual tour, and even give you an idea of what your commute might look like to and from work. In addition, a detailed property history section will show you if this house was previously on the market, and what it was listed for. The payment calculator provides you with the peace of mind in knowing the estimated cost of your home loan. You can easily adjust variables such as the down payment and interest rate to better fit your situation.

Feel free at any point to schedule a private showing with a Realty Austin agent by clicking on the Tour in Person button.  Or let them know you’d like a live virtual walk through of the property by clicking on the Video Chat Tour button, and your agent will virtually show you the property no matter where you are in the world.

At this point in your journey, you’re pretty invested in this search and probably want to get notified when a new home comes on the market that meets your criteria. Now that you’ve selected all of your desired criteria, let’s save your work! Click on the Save Search button located in the top right corner. Here you can name your search anything you want, or keep it as-is.

Not only does saving a search notify you of new listings that match your criteria, but you can also adjust your saved search email settings to notify you when these listings experience any changes. These might include a price reduction, a change in status, or an upcoming open house.

Depending on where you are in your home search process, you have the ability to control the frequency of the email alerts that are delivered to your inbox. Just casually browsing or watching the market in your area? Set the frequency to ‘Monthly’. Ready to buy now? Set the frequency to ‘Immediate’ and you’ll be the first to know with an email notification the moment a new listing goes on the market that matches your criteria.

Finding a home that fits your needs is often a shared decision, which is why we built in a feature that allows you to invite your co-buyer to collaborate on your home search experience. You can even invite your Realty Austin agent to make sure they’re on the same page. Don’t forget to click that ‘Save’ button and you’re all set!

Now that you know the basics for setting up a customized search on, you’ll have an advantage over other buyers in the market. Be sure to connect with your Realty Austin agent today to get the most out of your home search experience. Happy house hunting!
