2nd Annual Realty Austin Habitat Home Build Comes to Life
AUSTIN, TX–Realty Austin joined Austin Habitat for Humanity in the dedication of a newly built home for a deserving family. As part of Realty Austin’s long-term commitment to giving back locally, the company, its team of agents, clients and industry partners donated $65,000 to sponsor and build a new home.
The Realty Austin team began construction on the home on October 2, 2013 and concluded on November 20, 2013. More than 160 Realty Austin agents and staff filled the volunteer list at record speed, and were eager to raise hammers and paintbrushes to contribute to the company’s 2nd Annual home build.
Yvette Boatwright, co-owner of Realty Austin said, “Community service is a cornerstone of our culture that stems directly from our core mission as a company. Participating in worthy causes together as a team, makes it one of the most rewarding aspects of our jobs. To watch a home come to life in just eight short weeks for a deserving family, is remarkable.”
This year industry partners joined Realty Austin and contributed to this year’s home. David Tandy, Gracy Title; Chris Davis and Gary Davis of Sendera Investment Group; Ryan Leahy, Leahy Lending; Josh Jordan, Colonial Savings; Wells Fargo; SWBC; Sente Mortgage; Mortgage Pros; and Mutual of Omaha helped to make this home build come to life.
Jonathan Boatwright, co-owner of Realty Austin said, “As part of our corporate citizenship, we know we have a responsibility to look for ways to support local organizations that have a lasting impact on multiple generations. Sponsoring Habitat is a natural way for our industry to give back to the community in a meaningful way. As part of our ongoing charitable giving, our team has made a real impact on the Austin community by enthusiastically embracing programs like Habitat. Our agents are able to give of themselves through their time, skills, and resources, which makes the experience even more positive.”
Realty Austin’s build project benefits longtime Austin resident, mother of three and grandmother to two girls Carmen Toungate. The home is located in East Austin off of highway 183 and Loyola.
Kelly Weiss, Executive Director of Austin Habitat for Humanity said, “I applaud Jonathan and Yvette for creating a giving company culture at Realty Austin. They demonstrate the best qualities of community leadership. This year’s recipient, Ms. Toungate, is a hard working, appreciative woman who overcame daily struggles after the death of her husband Pablo and rarely depended on financial assistance. It is with great pleasure we provide this opportunity for her.”
Boatwright concluded, “The blood, sweat, and happy tears we shared during the experience last year will never be forgotten. We were greatly inspired by the hard work and determination of last year’s family, and our passion to help others achieve their dreams of homeownership is stronger than ever.”
