Austin, TX Austin has about everything an Outdoor lover desires. From vast lakes to rolling lush hills filled with hike and bike trails, there are a variety of outdoor activities to explore. As the cooler weather blows in and the leaves change colors, enjoy the outdoors by embarking on a scenic fall adventure.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Head to one of the many different Austin pumpkin patches around town for a fun autumn outing and family-friendly experience. To make your search easier, we compiled a list of the best Austin pumpkin patches. Visit your favorite pumpkin patch and create your own autumn adventure! 

Have a Picnic in the Park

Grab your blanket and a basket full of snacks and enjoy the autumn weather with a picnic in the park! There are dozens of local parks that surround the Austin area with designated picnic spots. Sit out on the lawn of Zilker Park with downtown Austin as a backdrop or have lunch by the lake at Emma Long Park.

Get Out on the Lake

Just because its Fall doesn’t mean lake season is over. Head out to a local lake for a paddleboard or kayak adventure. Rent out a boat for a small group and enjoy the sunset as you cruise through the city.

Visit Fortlandia

Located at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, this unique experience will give you an appreciation for art and nature. Discover dozens of custom-designed forts built by local architects, designers, and artists for the Mollie Steves Zachry Texas Arboretum. Get inspired and build your own fort at Fort Build station!

Hike & Bike

Hike and bike trails are some of the many great attractions in Austin! With Austin having such a wide range of landscapes, you can either hike and bike downtown or in the hill country. Fall is the perfect time to get outdoors for a brisk walk, run, or bike ride.

Go Camping

For the nitty-gritty outdoor lovers, camping is in the Fall is a beloved activity. There are 15+ state parks that surround the Austin area with many different options for camping. Pack up the RV and head out of the city for a memorable trip. For those who choose not to travel, set up a campsite in your own backyard and have just as much fun with family and friends.

Zipline Through the Forrest

Go ziplining through the treetops and get up close and personal with the autumn leaves. This is a great activity for those looking to try something new while being surrounded by nature including vast trees, forest animals, lakes, and rivers. Austin has a few options for the surrounding area  Ziplining such as Lake Travis Zipline Tours, Cypress Valley Canopy Tours, and Zip Lost Pines.
