Read time: 1 minute

One week from today, South by Southwest Interactive goers will fill the Austin Convention Center in Downtown Austin and expand their minds with new information from leaders in the technology industry. Featuring five days of panels, networking events and workshops, SXSWi is the place to be for techies, entrepreneurs and locals who want to learn the latest cutting-edge technologies and strategies used by current industry leaders.

Every year, big names in new media share their insights through featured panels. Past year’s featured speakers included Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook; Frank Warren of PostSecret.com; Tom Anderson, former CEO of Myspace.com; Evan Williams, CEO of Twitter; and Scott Raymond , CTO of Austin-based startup Gowalla. This year’s speakers include Barry Diller, Chairman of Expedia; Mark with TOMS Shoes; and June with TED Talks.

The significance of SXSW Interactive being in Austin is huge. Austin is a technology hub with a huge job sector in the technology industry. Past research has shown that Austin’s technology industry and strong startup sector make up large portions of Austin’s job market, which helped Austin’s job market recover after the unappetizing 2008-2009 recession. SXSWi is the perfect ingredient to garnish this city’s high-tech hub recipe. Enjoy the fresh taste of SXSWi!

This week’s Free Lunch Fridays is sponsored by Sushi Zushi, a local restaurant near Downtown Austin on West 5th Street.
