Huge Savings at IKEA and Macy’s

Read time: < 1 minute

The New Year is officially here when stores start promoting red line sales and clearance items. Huge sales help stores clean out last year’s old inventory to make room for the new styles of 2011. Right now Ikea and Macy’s are kicking off their New Year with furniture sales making this weekend a great time to go furniture shopping with the whole family.

The annual IKEA Sale starts the day after Christmas and runs through the 2nd weekend of the New Year. IKEA is located in Round Rock, just 20 minutes north of downtown Austin, right off I-35 and hard to miss. Currently, a giant "60% off" sign covers half of the building, so big you can’t help but ask yourself, "what do I need?" Everything is on sale from floor lamps to couches. Expect to save up to 60% on select home goods and products. Sale is going on now and ends this Sunday, Jan. 9.

Macy’s is also having a clearance sale as it says goodbye to its location in the Highland Mall. Starting January 9th, Macy’s is clearing out the entire store. Everything is on sale including discounted mattresses, marked down Martha Stewart Collection, slashed prices in bedroom furniture — everything must go. The entire Macy’s department at the Highland Mall is closing. The sale is expected to continue for 10 weeks.

With these huge sales, Austin continues to hold its title as one of America’s best cities for shopping. Even though one major department store is closing, Austin remains as one of the best cities for finding deals and affordable prices. This weekend especially is a great weekend to find good deals in Austin and refurnish your home.

Know of another huge sale going on? Mention it in the comments below and let the savings begin!
