How Realty Austin Sellers Can Advertise Their Property Listings Online

Read time: 3 minutes

When it comes to listing a home on the Austin Real Estate market, Realty Austin agents do the best job with the best tools and resources available. Our home marketing system is tested time and again to be the best in Austin with an average DOM (Days On Market) well below those of other agencies. Our website presence is also a great tool for attracting buyers — nearly 3,000 new users register each month! That’s a lot of potential buyers! Our sellers can rest assured that their home is in good hands.

But there are a few ways our clients can be active and help in the process of their home’s sale. Clients can help by sharing their listing with friends and family online. In today’s ever-changing world of technology, everyone seems to be networking online, whether it’s on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. And what better way to let others know you are selling your home than to share your listing with your online social networks? Realty Austin understands this and provides an easy way to share your listing with your online network.

The easiest way to do this is to use the social media buttons on the listing’s “Details” page. The buttons are found underneath the MLS description to the left of the default image. See here in this example:

There are two buttons to pay close attention to: Facebook and Twitter. Facebook is an online social sharing website that has over 500 million users. Most use Facebook for keeping up with old friends or sharing photos with extended families. It is the most used international online social network in the world. However, there is one other that is growing almost as fast. Twitter is most famous for its celebrity tweetings from Justin Bieber and Kanye West. The online app is not as robust as Facebook but it’s 140 character limit is an easy way to get real-time news and up-to-date information from the users or brands you follow.

Let’s start with Facebook. Here’s how you can capitalize your listing’s reach by using the online social network, Facebook.

1. Facebook

When you click on the Facebook “share” button on your listing’s “details” page on, a new window pops up asking for your Facebook login information. Grant access to Facebook and then a window will appear with a blank dialogue box. A photo will appear with an option to “Choose a thumbnail.” Click the right or left arrows to scroll through the available photos of your home until you find one you like. Above the photo is a text box. Share your thoughts in the box. Here’s an example of what you can say:

Once you hit “Share,” a link with an image of the property will show up on your Facebook Profile as well as your friends’ News Feed sharing your listing with all of your Facebook friends. A quick an easy way to spread the word — and encourage your friends to do the same — attracting the attention of more and more potential buyers!

2. Twitter

The next most important button in online sharing is the Twitter “tweet” button. If you have a Twitter account, click on this, and just like the Facebook “share” button in the first demo, it will ask for your login and password and direct you to another window. The Twitter button auto-generates a tweet for your convenience and allows you to edit it in a dialogue box. Here is an example “tweet” of what you could say to your friends on Twitter:

And those are the two most common ways to share your property listing with your online networks.

There is one more sharing site we suggest to use if you want to share your listing with your complete social network online. LinkedIn has become another popular way to share information with your business colleagues who may be more likely to buy or looking in the austin real estate market.

3. LinkedIn

The LinkedIn “share” button is not directly visible on your property’s “Details” page, but you can easily access it by clicking on the “+ SHARE” button which will open this dialogue box:

Then click on the “+ More” button on the bottom right. Here, you will see a list of 300+ other ways of sharing online. (Don’t worry, you can dismiss 304 of them!) The list is in alphabetical order. Scroll down until you see the LinkedIn icon and click it. It will populate another credentials window (unless you’re already logged in) and then prompt you with another dialogue box. Here’s a sample message you can send to your colleagues on LinkedIn:

Click “Share” in the button left corner and you’re all done!

We’ve put these instructions together in this blog format to give our clients more information on how to stay involved in the home marketing process by using the advantages of their social networks.
