The great city of Austin topped a 2014 list even before the year began! This time Forbes named the Austin metro area as the Top U.S. Region To Watch In 2014.

This moment Forbes speaks of is all but ready to slow down. With a  job growth of 11.8% and GDP growth of 21.7% in the last six years, as well as a 2013 unemployment rate of 5.4% (and decreasing), Austin has one of the healthiest economies in the country. Not to everyone’s liking, the population growth is also expected to continue. By 2035, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization estimates a population of 3.25 million people including all five Austin metro counties, which calls for a lot more city and transportation planning than is already in the works.
