Realty Austin Continues Support of Affordable Housing

Realty Austin continued its mission of supporting affordable housing by kicking off a tiny home build at Community First! Village. We committed to providing financial support and volunteers to the community of formerly homeless in East Austin developed by Mobile Loaves & Fishes Founder and CEO, Alan Graham.

Yvette Boatwright, co-owner of Realty Austin said, “Partnering with Community First! Village makes us proud to be part of the movement! We are inspired to work with angels who are moving mountains like Alan Graham, who care about the health and well-being of our friends who need our help to get off the streets. We are excited to get started by helping to build our first of many homes.”

What is Community First! Village?

Community First! Village is a 27-acre master planned community that is a development of Mobile Loaves & Fishes. For several years Mobile Loaves & Fishes has played an integral role in Austin’s community by providing food and clothing to our homeless friends in need. Now, Alan Graham’s vision to create the village of tiny, micro homes has gained worldwide notoriety as a place that cultivates community, promotes dignity, and is a place they can call home.

Alan Graham, Founder and CEO of Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Community First! Village said, “Realty Austin profoundly represents what it means to put community first. We believe that our government should only play a subsidiary role to its citizens, and we should not rely on it to solve all of our problems. It will take good-hearted business leaders like Realty Austin jumping in to help us mitigate issues and find solutions. We are proud to partner with Realty Austin going into the future.”

Graham’s humble beginnings of one catering truck delivering meals in 1998, has grown to an army of trucks that blanket Austin daily. Graham’s greater vision of a master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing for the disabled, chronically homeless has come to life and is thriving. The tiny home village sits on 27 acres and is made up of 400 square foot homes to over 185 formerly homeless residents. An expansion is planned for the village into the 24 neighboring acreages that would allow houses for an additional 350 residents.

Jonathan Boatwright, co-owner of Realty Austin said, “Over the last decade, affordable housing has plagued the city and now has become a crisis. With the urban sprawl covering miles around downtown, affordable housing is vital to the long-term health and economy of Central Texas and our team is committed to finding solutions to support it.”

Coinciding with the company’s partnership, a tiny home made out of Hempcrete was made possible by the company’s new sponsorship. The tiny hemp home is the first of its kind in Texas. See our photos here!
