NBC reports that California has seen a major decrease in population since 2011. Unemployment in California has skyrocketed, the cost of living has increased and nearly 100,000 tax payers have left the state.
Where are all of these Californians going? To Texas, of course! Almost 60,000 moved to Texas from California in 2011. The next four states with the most relocating Californians are Arizona, Nevada, Washington, and Oregon.
What makes Texas so appealing to Cali natives is our tech savvy, job happy economy, and Texas weather. However, relocation to Texas, and specifically Austin, isn’t just for the young job-seekers. Austin is also recognized as the 11th most popular retirement spot in Texas. The Business Journal claims that nearly half of the 65+ group are “transplanted Texans” who have moved to the area from out of the state or country.
There’s something for everyone and anyone of all ages in Austin. Wouldn’t you agree? Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
