Four Texas cities rounded out the top 20 fastest growing cities. The study was based on the 100 most populous Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) in the U.S. that include cities and their surrounding suburbs. Using data from Moody’s Analytics, cities were ranked by six metrics: population growth rate for 2013 and 2014, year-over-year job growth for 2013, economic growth rate for 2013, federal unemployment data and median salaries for local college-educated workers. With a 2013 population growth rate of 2.5% and and low unemployment rate of 4.89%, Austin tops Forbes’ 2014 list of America’s fastest growing cities. The study includes Austin, Round Rock and San Marcos populations.
