Austin Is Best City for Young Professionals

Austin and 2 other Texas cities ranked high on 2010’s best cities for young professionals lists.

Forbes and recently came out with surveys highlighting cities with the best business environments for young professionals starting their careers. On each list, Austin ranked in the top 10. Austin took first place on’s list and tenth place on’s list. Both studies took into considereation job growth, current unemployment rate, average wage, affordability and public company presence. Along with this criteria, Austin maintains its status as best city for young professionals with the help of the University of Texas and large supply of government and tech jobs.

Each year, a new pool of young, educated University of Texas graduates stay in Austin. Young professionals love Austin; moving here for its low cost of living and high quality of life, they help to attritube to Austin’s high population of employed workers in their 20s and 30s. Low unemployment rate, high quality of living, lush outdoor environment and lively night life also attracts workers in their 20s and 30s ever widening the pool of young adults in Austin. Having the fastest annual employment-growth rate of 2.8% also helps Austin gain attention from those starting their careers. It’s no surprise that Austin’s fruitful allure won it the number one placement on’s study and easily snags first place on another "best of 2010" list, yet another reason to move to Austin.
