In 8 of the last 10 months of the study, Austin has held onto #1 spot as the best economy in the nation.
With the high score of 88.023, Austin, TX ranks 1st place out of 102 markets in the United States according to a new study by the Business Journal. On Numbers Economic Index ranks markets with more than 500,000 residents by unemployment, job growth (over 1 and 5 years), current job wages and 5-year income growth, and appreciation of the housing market. All in all, eighteen factors were used to create the rankings. Southern markets dominated the list with Austin, Dallas and Houston rounding out the top 5.
