It turns out WalletHub, a site dedicated to consumers making better financial decisions, made that list for all of us. After crunching the data, the results proved Austin reigns supreme as the number one choice from over 60 cities across America.

Why is Austin #1 Best City to Live in America?

The method of their research considered the best cities in America for families, pet lovers, recreation, healthy living, job market, and affordability, as well as many others. To rank the best places to live in the U.S., the comprehensive study went far beyond the simple opinion polls to arrive at a simple consensus and considered large cities with populations over 300,000 along with statistics on livability, education, health, the local economy & taxes.

Based on the in-depth analysis of the total 31 metrics, their distinguished panel of professors and economists concluded what Austinites already know. Not only is Austin the best city to live in America, but for that matter, the best city in Texas, and by a wide margin. With a total of 8 Texas cities making the list, Houston came in next all the way down at number 29 and Dallas dead last at number 50.
